Leadership Roles
Poor or mediocre leaders abound in large part because people take on leadership roles for the wrong reasons.
In both
cases, they're either doing it for their own personal gain or because they've
been selected for leadership roles solely on the basis of their
technical competence.
They don't
ask themselves important questions.
Personal
fame and money are not the only factors that contribute to leadership. There is
nothing wrong with working for one's own benefit, but leadership requires a
larger goal. Fame and fortune for leaders should be a by-product, not a goal in
and of themselves.
It is
essential to have a clear idea of what you want to accomplish.
People that
don't comprehend the importance of leadership roles wind up being dreadful as
bosses, my dear friends!
In order to
produce outcomes for the larger good, leaders and managers must set their own
interests aside.
Consider
carefully what you want for yourself and those around you before accepting a
leadership position.
